The Art of Making Biscuits

Scout showing off one of his unique kitten talents…we call it making biscuits.

I’m not sure why cats need to knead, but my cats have the additional habit of drooling while they knead. Scout lets loose a drop of drool towards the end of this video.

Saturday Morning Shenanigans

Did I hear dog beach?!?

Another gorgeous Saturday morning. After my cuppa, we’re cruising to dog beach.

Scout is on morning bird watch.

The birds are chirping and twittering in the trees, luckily, just out of reach. I’m not a fan of the “presents” that Scout brings to me.

8 Photos of Happiness Challenge…

…Better late than never? Back in August, our friend, Lexi the Schnauzer, graciously nominated Kona and I to participate in the 8 Photos of Happiness Challenge created by Ariel’s Little Corner of the Internet.

Apologies for the tardiness of this reply – I picked out these photos back in August and they’ve been sitting on my computer desktop waiting to be posted! So here goes…

This is my absolute favorite picture of Kona. He loves being chased, as you can see from the smile on his face.

Captain Kona sailing on daddy's boat

Captain Kona loves sailing on daddy’s boat.

Sitting on mommy’s lap as we take off in the motor home to go camping. Though I loves camping, riding in the motor home makes me a bit nervous, so I just sit all 50 pounds onto mom’s lap for most of the trip.

Playing “tear apart the stuffed bunny” with my pal, Dexter.

Watching the sunset with daddy while camping at Jamala Beach.

“Time for our walky-walky, mommy!” This is the look I give my mom every morning at 7:30. I keep track of time better than she does!

Camping hiking at the Grand Canyon. Daddy has a habit of pointing at things in pictures.

Finally a picture with mommy! I loves jumping and biting at the snow. It seems to bring out the Husky instincts in me.

It’s now time for me to nominate the following blogs/friends:

The adventures of the very charming Stuart the Scottish Terrier

The life of a golden retriever told with beautiful photographs

More beautiful photos and words about adorable cats

A blog about Macy the Australian Shepherd and Castle the Golden Retriever

Clever pictures and tales from Shoko and Kali the Canadian cats

I do not wish to be responsible for anyone’s unhappiness because I inadvertently omitted them, so If you want to join the challenge, just JOIN!

Pupeye the Sailor Dog

Pupeye The Sailor Pup

Ahoy Matey!

The days are warming up here in Southern California, and that means putting on Kona’s sailor hat and cruising around the harbor in our boat. It’s a little scary for Kona at first, but he’s getting used to it. His favorite part is going for a swim.

“I have learned that to be with those I like is enough”
~ Walt Whitman

Just look at these boys…

How can a heart not overflow at this sight on such a beautiful morning? This is my family (husband is included, of course, but he was at work).

My life, for now, is quiet and simple, and these guys are my favorite creatures to spend time with. Their contentment is contagious.

This may sound strange to some people, but I feel no loneliness when I am hanging out with this furry bunch.

Perhaps there are a few of you out there who can relate?

Dogs in the ‘hood

We are fortunate to live in a neighborhood of dog enthusiasts. Our house is across the street from an elementary school with a large fenced-in grass area, which turns into an unofficial dog park in the evenings and weekends.

Reading my pee-mail

Since I tend to be somewhat introverted, Kona plays a key role in helping me get to know the neighbors. It’s really a win-win situation, because the dogs get to build their social skills as well.

Getting to know my neighbors and their dogs continues to be a rewarding experience. I have come to appreciate dog folks – they really are a special breed!
